Moving Light - Jonathan Jones and Sriwhana Spong
Moving Light brings together Sydney artist Jonathan Jones and Auckland artist Sriwhana Spong in an exploration of their use of light and darkness – in all its guises.
From their engagement with elements of lighting and with popular culture to their critique of postcolonial issues, Jones and Spong share an attitude towards the use of space and objects as well as a conceptual positioning. Referencing their respective cultural backgrounds (Jones - Kamilaroi/Wiradjuri and Spong - Balinese) their works represent the collusion, or perhaps the blending, of worlds illuminated by the Balinese shrine, popular culture, the common fluoro tube and Aboriginal line patterns.
